THE CHIEFDOMS

 

Day 1

Arrival, reception, transfer to the Bougainvillées hotel or similar.

Day 2

Departure Saloum ISLAND by bush and track TANNS ( dry land areas covered with salt).

Visit traditional villages.

Arrival in Ndangane and Stroll in Dugout in aquatic colorful aisles ( mangrove ) natural landmark of migratory birds.

Lunch at KHADY .

Back to Ndangane Dinner and overnight at PELICAN .

Day 3

Departure to visit the Megalithic DOUBA SITE.

Lunch at Tamba crossroads town to different ethnic groups, a melting pot of West Africa . Real end of the world , it is a marginal region very little urbanized , its isolation is due to poor communication networks, and its distance from the capital ; and improvement of the road network is now a destination for easier access.

This is the only hilly region of Senegal and its temperature is still high .

Afternoon visit to the city on foot .Overnight in Wassadou

Day 4: NIOKOLO

Up before the sun to watch the awakening of nature.

Road to Dar Salam door of the National Park of Niokolo Koba , then track to the Mare Simenti.

Observation of animals are drinking it.

Views on a loop of the Gambia to camp Simenti and refresh halt.

Views hippos observation river views.

Lunch by the river.

Foret gallery stepping up Bâ Foula Be. sign bridge -Dessus of Niokolo Gorge. Mares bordering Gambia.

Observation baboons, patas monkeys, vervet monkeys , warthogs , various antelopes, many birds , hippos, crocodiles ...

Bivouac on the beach aboard the Gambia lined sentinel palmyra , listening to the sounds of nature .

Dinner prepared over a wood fire and night in camp.

Day 5

Small presentation on the life of BASSARI to welcome you.

Visiting families.

Walking through fields and hills , the sacred village square with three boxes presentation on the transition of youth to adulthood , about the culture of the son of CAMELION .

Dinner and night Ethiolo

Day 6

Ethiolo departure , visit the village of bédick Iwol hilltop.

20 Minuts walk.

Picnic lunch.

Dinner and overnight at Relay KEDOUGOU on the Gambia River .

Day 7

DINDEFERLO visit caves with waterfalls and natural swimming pool.

Back to Kédougou , lunch and afternoon visit the "land of men" and its picturesque market .

Dinner and overnight .

Day 8

Start the morning at Tamba , lunch relay Kaolack and continuation to the third city of Senegal.

Dinner and overnight at the charming hotel Adjana

Day 9

TOUBA departure for the Holy City , visiting the largest mosque in the West Africa with its minaret 86 meters , a small presentation on the life and work of the founder of " mouridisme ".

Continue to SAINT -LOUIS the first French town on the African coast in homage to Louis IX .

Installation at the hotel Mermoz , lunch. Free afternoon between river and ocean.

Dinner and night over a presentation on " JOHN ".

Day 10

Breakfast and departure for Djoudj National Park ( a World Heritage of UNESCO).

Established in 1971 and third bird park in the world, it covers 12,000 hectares in the Senegal River delta.

Set in a desert region , the Djoudj is the only green in this part of the Sahel.

As she exerts an irresistible attraction on the birds of Europe as in Africa.

From November to March , three million birds give them appointment for the winter.

Add some twenty species of mammals ( warthogs , crocodiles, monkeys , gazelles, lizards ... )

Canoe excursion: engine idling , the boat is sinking in the heart of Djoudj while sounds fantastic ballet :

Flamingos taking off in tight rows , pelicans taking flight and cormorants that dive ...

Breakfast in SAINT- LOUIS , afternoon city tour by carriage.

Dinner and overnight at Mermoz Hotel.

Day 11

Departure for Desert LOMPOUL.

Visiting schools along the way.

Picnic lunch in the shade of wild fig trees.

By mid afternoon , installation at the camp , ride a camel on the sand dunes.

Diner, bivouac and entertainment under the stars.

Night

Day 12

Morning departure from LOMPOUL to Saly.

Along the way , visit Dumarché of Leather Mekhe , continue to THIES and visit the spice market.

Lunch in the sea.

Free afternoon.

Dinner and overnight at Bougainvillea or similar

Day 13

Free day in Saly and lunch.

Dinner and folk show at the hotel.

Day 14

Breakfast, departure to the City Tour DAKAR:

- The Independence Square.

- The imposing Cathedral of African Remembrance built in 1929, curious mix of styles, with two towers evoking minarets, a pseudo-Byzantine dome and a monumental façade,

- The craft village SOUMBEDIOUNE which includes more than a hundred craftsmen (sculptors, weavers, tailors, goldsmiths, leather, etc ...) founded in 1961.

Continue to the island of Goree.

Departure by boat for a tour of the house slaves.

Lunch at the restaurant Knight Boufflers.

Visit the island:

- The House of Slaves, where slaves were gathered, sorted and locked up pending shipment to the other side of the Atlantic: the testimony of a past of suffering, emotional visit that leaves no one indifferent.

- Strolling in the alleys lined with sand or paved with irregular basalt blocks under the baobab trees palaver.
